Summary:

This position will establish and maintain external and internal customer interactions to understand technical requirements and resolve issues.  Perform engineering and technical assignments using engineering practices and principles.  Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within the set time frame and funding parameters.

Must be able to analyze and understand complex information, product specifications and critical technical information.  Responsible for complex, multi-site, and international projects that include leading cross-functional teams in operations, engineering, finance, globalization, product rationalization and transfers.

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reviews project proposals and plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the projects.
  • Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and within budget; Manages project team activities.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of the project and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Confers with project staff to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares project reports for management, clients, or others.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide advice and to resolve problems.
  • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.


Skills, Experience and Background:

Must have a broad knowledge of metal manufacturing processes and principles. Good project management and problem-solving skills required. Able to use analytical, statistical and project management software. Knowledge of fastener manufacturing and experience with high volume, high mix manufacturing environment is preferred.  Understanding of Capital Expenditures, investment decision parameters, asset utilization, management and financial impact is a must.  Expertise in developing, integrating and launching automated manufacturing solutions is desired.

Computer Skills 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software and Project Management software.

Other Skills 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering or related field
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
