POSTING NUMBER:&nbsp;N133-2425 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;POSTING DATE:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;August 28, 2024&nbsp;CLOSING DATE:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;September 11, 2024POSITION: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mechanical Supervisor – Buildings and Grounds DepartmentREPORTS TO: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Director of Facilities and Maintenance ManagerPRIMARY FUNCTION: The Mechanical Supervisor will manage internal tradesmen and subcontracted mechanical service contractors for the 39 Hartford Public Schools.&nbsp;Responsibilities include:<ul><li>Certify safety and health training of tradesmen</li><li>Oversee testing and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and life-safety systems</li><li>Manage mechanical department operating budget</li><li>Enforce safety protocols for asbestos, HAZMAT handling, etc.</li><li>Supervise snow-removal operations</li></ul>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Manage (schedule and distribute) daily workloads of assigned employees </li><li>Maintain punctuality for daily operations, emergencies, and meetings (including phone calls, texts, emails, etc.)</li><li>Utilize Microsoft Office suite (specifically, Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote) and shared drives efficiently</li><li>Address mechanical system deficiencies reported by head custodians</li><li>Use Brightly work order system for service calls</li><li>Maintain inspection and testing records of filter changes, life safety systems, elevators, and others as assigned </li><li>Manage employee attendance and leave requests</li><li>Hire and performance manage employees following union contract and district procedures</li><li>Collaborate with other departments</li><li>Oversee vehicle maintenance and safety</li><li>Supervise snow events (plowing and salting)</li><li>Manage building management systems, including scheduling and sequence of operations</li><li>Maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders, including departments, agencies, school administrators, custodians, and contractors</li><li>Remain on-call for emergencies</li><li>Dispatch internal tradesmen as needed</li><li>Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and external agencies such as, but not limited to:</li><li>CONTRACTORS - HVAC, BMS controls, life safety, electrical, small equipment repair, backflow prevention, drain cleaning, swimming pools, emergency generator contractors, elevator services, and others</li><li>SUPPLIERS - HVAC, plumbing, electrical, air filters, equipment repair, tools, diesel fuel, playground safety chips, automotive, snow removal equipment, top soils, cold patch, and others</li><li>AGENCIES: City of Hartford Departments (Fire Marshal, Department of Public Works, License and Inspections, and Police Department), MDC, Eversource, CNG, State of Connecticut DEEP, EPA, HHHR, and others</li></ul>SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>High school diploma is required</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (specifically, Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote) and internet use</li><li>10 years of HVAC experience</li><li>Knowledge of building automation systems</li><li>10 years of experience supervising tradesmen</li><li>Strong organizational and communication (written and oral) skills</li><li>Must communicate well with others, both written and oral communication</li><li>Leadership experience in educational settings preferred</li><li>Ability to work in a union environment</li><li>Capable of adapting to fast-paced, demanding environment</li><li>Experience and skill in contingency planning and disaster response </li></ul>CERTIFICATION / LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: <ul><li>Valid Connecticut driver’s license is required</li><li>State of Connecticut HVAC license is required, specifically an S2 license</li></ul>EVALUATION: Evaluated in accordance with Local 818 AgreementSALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a 12-month work year position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.&nbsp;Salary will be in accordance with experience level and 2024-2025 Salary Schedule 67 - $82,336 to $101,166 for Buildings and Grounds supervisors.UNION AFFILIATION: The Board recognizes Local 818 of Council 4, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO as the exclusive bargaining unit for this position.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: &nbsp;To be considered, all internal and external applicants must fully complete a Hartford Public Schools’ online application, which can be accessed through our Applicant Tracking System, Nimble, at <a href="https://app.hirenimble.com/jobs/hartford" target="_blank">https://app.hirenimble.com/jobs/hartford</a>.
